… a Passion for Fashion & Costume Design …

La Bamboo Vixen has a great adoration for fashion and costume design and holds a Professional Designation degree from FIDM - the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising - where she graduated from the Fashion Design program (Cum Laude in 2011) and was awarded a Merit Scholarship & an opportunity to study abroad in Paris, France (which included a short course at L'Ecole Lesage to learn beading and sequin needlework!!) .. Prior to this intensive study, she did costumes for Kellita's solo work - as well as for the Hot Pink Feathers parade troupe, where she co-produced the vibrant Carmen Miranda & Josephine Baker inspired looks for the SF Carnaval Parade in 2010 - and then designed and sewed the lacy and alluring Showgirl looks for the SF Carnaval Parade in 2012 (which later won an 'Absolutely Fabulous' award from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence during SF Pride!!) … Bamboo started out as a costume assistant for Likha Pilipino Folk Ensemble shortly after completing her Bachelors degree in Textiles & Merchandising from SF State in 2004 - where she was awarded 'Most Creative' at the graduate fashion show for garments made out of scrap and recycled materials.

Fashion has been a big part of Bamboo's life since she was a teenager and she keeps up-to-date with the latest styles (especially haute couture) and constantly researches future and seasonal trends. She currently does freelance work as a patternmaker, technical designer, stylist, senior production associate and merchandise manager. Lately Bamboo's career has transitioned into the world of performing arts and dance while keeping fashion in mind as she evolves in the world of burlesque and entertainment ... Although La Bamboo Vixen no longer specializes in costuming and sewing in order to focus on other aspects of performing, she does make exceptions for extra-ordinary occasions, and is available as needed for advice and consultations.
